5 New Windows Photos Features from Microsoft
1. Remove and Replace Backgrounds
Users can now save and copy photos to the clipboard more easily. No need for a special backdrop when taking photos—Windows Photos now allows you to replace the background with any solid color you prefer.
To choose the right color, simply use the color picker. You can adjust RGB values, click on the color palette, or enter a hex color code.
2. Redesigned Filmstrip
Microsoft has redesigned the Filmstrip feature. Each photo now includes a Filmstrip thumbnail at the bottom, making it easier to quickly browse other images within the same folder.
Users can also select multiple images for easier viewing and comparison.
Keep in mind, the Filmstrip is disabled by default when you open a photo. To enable it, press the “F” key or click the icon in the bottom-left corner.
Microsoft has also moved the Filmstrip under the photo, enlarged the thumbnails, and added a larger scrollbar at the bottom. This makes navigating and selecting the right photo much easier.
3. Timeline Scrollbar
To help users find photos faster, the latest Windows update introduces a Timeline Scrollbar for all folders. The scrollbar adapts dynamically based on the time range of the user’s photo collection, making navigation more intuitive.
4. Share Individual Photos with OneDrive
Another new feature is the ability to share photos directly via OneDrive. Just right-click the image, select Share, and choose OneDrive. You can then copy the generated URL to your clipboard or send it via email.
5. Additional Improvements and Enhancements
Windows now makes printing images easier by adding a 7:5 aspect ratio option in the Resize tool and moving the Print button to the top command bar when viewing a photo.
Microsoft has also rolled out several performance improvements, including faster tab switching, quicker photo loading, and enhanced Slideshow functionality.
