Google Photos now comes with a refreshed interface when users want to share photos. This updated design is inspired by Android 14, which features a customizable share sheet based on the app being used.
Now, when sharing images from Google Photos on Android 14, users will see the “Share image” panel slide to the top of the screen. Users can also select additional photos to share using a grid view after tapping “Modify” in the top-right corner.
According to 9to5Google, Monday (October 16, 2023), the first section displays a preview of the selected image with a pencil icon in the corner, allowing users to launch the Markup tool. With this tool, you can quickly crop, add text, draw, or highlight content.
Below the preview is a carousel linking to various Google Photos menu options exclusive to Android 14, such as Create Link, Send Photo, Add to Album, and Create Album.
Next, the Direct Share targets appear, followed by frequently used apps. Nearby Share is also placed at the top of the list, making it easily accessible by simply scrolling up to reveal the full sharing panel.
This new sharing interface is available starting from Google Photos version 5.65 on Pixel devices running Android 14. Unfortunately, Google has not yet rolled out this feature to larger-screen devices such as the Pixel Tablet.
