Instagram Launches Video Notes Feature, Lets Users Post 2-Second Clips
Instagram has announced a new update that allows users to create Notes in the form of short videos, known as Video Notes.
As many users know, Instagram Notes is a status-style feature released about a year ago. At launch, Notes only supported text or emoji updates. Later, Instagram added the ability to share music in Notes.
Now, Instagram is introducing another upgrade. Users can post 2-second Video Notes that will be visible to mutual followers or Close Friends for 24 hours. This update was reported by TechCrunch on Thursday (December 14, 2023).
This new feature will not replace Instagram Stories, as Video Notes are limited to only two seconds in duration.
One key difference between Video Notes and Video Stories is that Video Notes can only be recorded using the front camera. Additionally, users must record directly within the Instagram app—uploaded videos from a phone’s gallery cannot be used.
To post a Video Note, the process is similar to creating a regular Note. Users simply open their DMs, tap their profile photo in the Notes section, and select the camera icon.
From there, users can tap the record button to capture a two-second video. They can also add text before posting.
