Microsoft Paint on Windows 11 Now Features Cocreator AI
Microsoft has begun rolling out Cocreator, an artificial intelligence (AI)–powered feature, to the Paint app on Windows 11.
With Cocreator in Microsoft Paint, users can ask AI to generate images using OpenAI’s DALL·E 3, a feature previously available only to Windows Insiders.
According to Microsoft’s official website on Friday (December 1, 2023), a Cocreator icon will appear next to the Layers icon when users open Paint.
A text box will also be available, allowing users to type in a description of the image they want to create.
“Whether you want to draw a dragon, a unicorn, or anything else, Cocreator will help you unleash your creativity and produce your own artwork with the help of AI,” Microsoft wrote.
How Cocreator Works in Microsoft Paint
After entering a text prompt, users can choose their preferred art style and click the Create button.
Cocreator will then generate three different variations of the requested image. Users can select one variant and insert it directly onto the Paint canvas.
To use Cocreator, users must sign in with a Microsoft account. They will also receive 50 credits, which decrease each time they generate an AI image.
Availability and Language Support
Microsoft states that the AI-powered feature is currently rolling out in the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Italy, and Germany, with support limited to English for now.
Previously, Microsoft introduced its AI image-generation capabilities through other services. Bing’s chatbot was the first platform to receive these features, and it has since evolved into the fully integrated Copilot generative AI assistant.
Meanwhile, OpenAI—according to The Verge—also provides paid ChatGPT users with access to DALL·E 3.
